American College Health Association
The American College Health Association (ACHA) is a membership association that serves more than 8,500 individual college health & wellness professionals and leaders of all disciplines united together to advance the physical and mental health, as well as overall wellness, of college students. In our work on behalf of ACHA, APS:
- Developed and executed the ACHA government affairs strategic plan including the creation of annual policy agendas, such as their 2023 Policy Agenda.
- Is working to secure the introduction of the College Health Index (CHI). Similar to the CDC’s widely-used School Health Index (SHI), the CHI would help colleges improve the health and well-being of their campus community.
- Is seeking the reauthorization of the Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Campus Suicide Prevention Grant funding. ACHA would like to see this important program fully funded in FY23 and reauthorized as part of any reauthorization of the Garrett Lee Smith Act (S 2634).
- Provides regular monitoring to ACHA staff and members of legislation and policy developments impacting their policy agenda and strategic plan.
